Pastoral Planning updates

May 2022 Dear parishioners of St. Patrick and Holy Family Churches:
Recently, at the weekend Masses in both churches I have shared with you the most recent pastoral planning updates in the Archdiocese of Omaha that include our two parishes:
--The four parish cluster (St. Patrick, Holy Family, St. Joseph, Holy Cross parishes) will begin this July 1st, 2022 and will last for one year only. At this time our cluster is scheduled to end on July 1st, 2023.
--Each of our parishes was represented at a kickoff meeting for the introduction of the next phase beyond the clustering of our parishes. This next phase is called, “families of parishes”. The purpose of “families of parishes” is for the better flourishing of parishes in the Archdiocese of Omaha.
--The kickoff meeting for Holy Family church was held in West Point on April 20th. The kickoff meeting for St. Patrick Church was held at Christ the King Church in Omaha on May 2nd. At each of these meetings I and our parish representatives were gathered with representatives and priests from other parishes.
--Starting July 1st, 2023 St Patrick Church will be in a “family of parishes” with St. Francis Borgia Church in Blair, and St. John the Baptist Church in Ft. Calhoun.
--Holy Family Church, St. Joseph Church, and Holy Cross Church will be three of twelve parishes in another “family of parishes”. Therefore, starting July 1st, 2023 St. Patrick and Holy Family Churches will no longer be affiliated one with the other.
--Both St. Patrick and Holy Family Churches have at least one or more family pastoral planning team members together with me. These are different than our parish representatives. Our team members are as follows:
St. Patrick: Joan Andrew, Ashley Olson, Lyle Pille, John Roche (and myself) Holy Family: Lynn Kellogg (and myself)
--Each parish team has met for its first meeting with team members from other parishes. We will be looking at and collaborating in various aspects of parish life, working towards a goal of becoming more flourishing parishes. I will communicate updates to you as they become available. Let us unite our prayer together for this process.
Peace, Fr. Kevin
